Len Forkas, President
Mr. Forkas has 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur in both the real estate and wireless industries. He has raised over $100 million in equity capital and debt to fund Milestone’s growth since its formation in 2001 leading to the development of over 100 towers in six states. Mr. Forkas is active in WIA “The Wireless Infrastructure Association” as a leader of the IDF, a peer group for entrepreneurs in the wireless tower industry.
In 1996 Forkas formed Milestone Communities Inc., Washington, DC based real estate development company. Mr. Forkas held senior management positions at Bank of America, Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company and Oxford Development Corp.
Mr. Forkas has served on the Boards of the YMCA of Metro DC and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Forkas is a former trustee of ULI and past chairman of ULI Washington DC.
He is the founder of Hopecam, Inc., a Reston, VA based charity that connects homebound children, undergoing treatment for cancer to their friends at school using webcam technology. Since 2002, Hopecam has connected over 1,500 children to 20,000 classmates in 47 states.
Mr. Forkas is a published author and leadership speaker. In 2012 and 2017 he competed in one of the world’s toughest endurance events: Race Across America, a 3,000+ mile, coast-to-coast solo bicycle race that participants must finish in 12 days. Forkas finished in 11 days and raised over $1,000,000 for Hopecam. In his book “What Spins the Wheel”, Forkas describes the leadership challenges and what he learned as he fought through the scorching heat of the deserts and the joint-wrenching cold of 11,000-foot mountain elevations, propelled by an effective all-volunteer team that supported him around the clock. Forkas has appeared on CNN Anderson Cooper 360, Fox & Friends, and Washington DC affiliates ABC & FOX.
He received his MBA in finance from The American University and BA & BS degrees from the College of Architecture at Ball State University.
